SES wins Gateshead regeneration contract
Building-services contractor SES is due to start work on site in May for a significant contract on the Spenhill redevelopment for Trinity Square, Gateshead, an anchor project for regeneration in the area. Working for contractor Bowmer & Kirkland, SES is responsible for the design and installation of M&E and public-health services for student accommodation.
The overall development includes a new Tesco Extra store, central energy centre, car parking, primary-care-trust building, office, future hotel and 45 retail units.
The student accommodation for Northumbria will comprise 993 bedrooms, common rooms and a student hub. The blocks will range from four to nine storeys above podium level.
To help the overall project achieve a Very Good BREEAM rating, which required highly efficient plant rooms, SES will design and produce eight plant rooms using its Prism pre-fabricated facility.
