SES achieves a year free of accidents

Building-services contractor SES has reported an accident-free 2011, with over 1.3 million man hours RIDDOR free (Reporting of injuries, Disease & Dangerous Occurrences Regulations). In addition to twice-yearly audits carried out by BSI as part of SES’s accreditation to OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health & Safety Standard), SES also implements several internal audits and inspections.

Tony Sidwell, head of safety, health, environment and quality with SES, said, ‘We are continuously evolving our health-and-safety initiatives and have recently launched our internal “Think safety” campaign. With robust policies and procedures and good communication, as well as a positive and professional attitude, accidents are avoidable — as evidence by our RIDDOR-free year in 2011.

‘Extending our “think safety first” attitude to our supply chain and all visitors to live sites will ensure that we continue to operate below the average construction-industry accident frequency.’
