Cylon Group, which specialises in the development of building-management systems and services, is to invest over Eu11 million (£9 million) in its new energy-management division Cylon Active Energy and create up to 50 new positions over the next four years. This Irish company has its headquarters in County Dublin and offices in the UK and many other countries.

The company is one of the largest independent manufacturers of building-control systems in Europe. Through its new energy-management division, the company now also provides clients with cloud-based real-time energy-management services that have been proven to reduce energy costs by up to 25%. Over eu1.5 million (£1.2 million) has already been invested in the new division.

Sean Giblin, managing director of Cylon Group, said, ‘This is a very exciting time for Cylon, and this launch marks the next major phase in the development of our company. Cylon Active Energy is a key component of our strategy to continue to grow our business internationally. We believe it will allow us to double our sales to about eu15 million [£12 million] by 2014.’

Nicola Dunne, general manager of Cylon Active Energy, added, ‘We are delighted to launch what we believe is a unique service offering. We already have a number of customers in Ireland, the UK and Europe. We recently won our first contract in the US, highlighting our ability to centrally monitor, analyse and manage the energy consumption of buildings regardless of geographical location using our cloud-based real-time technology and our award-winning energy bureau based in Clonshaugh.’
