Silcock Leedham acquires Zero Energy Design
Silcock Leedham Group has acquired Zero Energy Design (ZED) to add to its growing portfolio of complementary businesses, which includes Silcock Leedham Consulting Engineers, Silcock Leedham Libya, Silcock Leedham Qatar and Verisys Commissioning Management. Founded in 2006, ZED provides expertise in low-carbon sustainable design and building physics — employing computational building modelling and simulation techniques throughout the design cycle.
Dr Penny Gale, ZED’s technical director, says, ‘Our ultimate goal is to optimise buildings such that they have net zero energy consumption or carbon emissions. Whilst we wholly accept that this is not always possible, we do aim to reduce energy consumption levels to as low as is practically achievable.’ She will continue as technical director for ZED.
Mike Silcock, managing director of Silcock Leedham, said, ‘As the market has changed and there has been an increasing demand for low-carbon, sustainable designs, we have been working increasingly closely with Zero Energy Design. When the opportunity arose to acquire this successful and credible business arose, we were keen to take it into the Silcock Leedham fold.’
