Free CPD guide to ErP labelling for air conditioning units

Mitsubishi Electric, air conditioning

Mitsubishi Electric has produced a free CPD-approved guide to the new energy labelling of air-conditioning systems following the introduction of the Ecodesign Directive for Energy related Products at the start of the year. The new legislation affects anyone installing, specifying or using air-conditioning units under 12 kW. For the first time, seasonal energy efficiency is incorporated, rather than simply recording efficiency in heating or cooling mode at a single heating or cooling load.

The new labelling system introduces performance data at four measuring points, as well as allowing for different climatic conditions across Europe.

The new seasonal efficiency ratings take much better account of developments in inverter technology. Non-inverter technology that currently achieves an A rating will be moved down to scale to a maximum B rating.

In addition to the A to G ratings, there are now additional A+, A++ and A+++ ratings related to the system’s seasonal performance.
