51-home Passivhaus scheme gets go-ahead

Climate Energy Homes, Passivhaus

A major Passivhaus development in east London has been given the go-ahead by the London Borough of Havering. The development will comprise 51 homes and is a partnership between Circle Housing Group and Climate Energy Homes. Work is expected to start in June 2013.

Helen Wilson, group head of energy and green strategy at Circle Housing Group, says, ‘This new development has the potential to reduce our customers’ heating and hot-water costs by up to 80%. This scheme will set a precedent for Circle to continue to deliver highly energy-efficient properties, and I look forward to seeing more passive-house developments in the future.’
