JS air curtain cures BUPA’s winter chill

JS Air Curtains
Preventing the revolving door of this BUPA building in Staines acting like a slow-moving fan is a Rund air curtain from JS Air Curtains.

Despite underfloor heating and heat gains from the glass facade, the large reception atrium at BUPA’s Health & Wellbeing UK office in Staines suffered from cold draughts in winter — a problem that has been tackled using a Rund air curtain from JS Air Curtains. This vertical unit is 2.5 m high and served by LTHW to create a barrier of warm air across the inner opening of the revolving door.

A key requirement of the design was that it could be easily removed during the summer when it was not required. Relevant design features include a 500 mm dummy section at the top to accommodate an electrical isolator and a base plate that can be concealed by a floor tile when the curtain is not in place.
