Aluminium refrigeration system for Tesco store

Reflok, refrigeration, pipes, pipework
All of the refrigeration system in this Tesco Express store uses aluminium components.

The all-aluminium refrigeration system at the Tesco Express store in Wolverhampton is believed to be the first such system anywhere in the world. Installed by Carter Synergy, the installation makes exclusive use of Reflok aluminium piping and heat-free connectors. The piping links to a highly efficient Güntner micro-channel heat exchanger, made totally of aluminium.

Reflok connectors enable the aluminium pipes to be joined without using heat. Graham Kirby, installation manager with Carter Synergy, says, ‘There is no need for a hot-works permit, and we don’t have to fill the whole system with nitrogen. That makes several things we don’t have to worry about. Aluminium is definitely a benefit.’
