Dalkia wins B&ES sustainability award

Dalkia has won the Healthcare Estates sustainable-achievement award for its £1150 million investment programme at the 480-bed Lister Hospital in Stevenage. The award was sponsored by the Building & Engineering Services Association (B&ES) for a project to support East & North Hertfordshire’s determination to reduce substantial electricity and heating costs, as well as carbon emissions, on the site.

The solution was found in the funding and construction by Dalkia, under a 15-year energy-management agreement, of a CHP energy centre. The project is expected to reduce energy costs by £650 000 a year. Its success was due in great part to the existence of a clear energy strategy and the trust’s partnering approach with its consultants and contractors.
