Paddon secures contract for Chelmsford regeneration project

Paddon FM is responsible for the £360 000 contract to install M&E services for the first phase of the Chelmsford City regeneration scheme on the former Anglia Ruskin University site. The project involves refurbishing the Anne Knight building opposite the railway station.

The building was formerly a Quaker meeting house and commemorates the life of Anne Knight, who worked to abolish slavery. It has been vacant since the university relocated to the Rivermead site in 2008.

Tony Murphy, chairman of Paddon FM, said, ‘As well as the refurbishment of the Anne Knight building, the new buildings will be arranged around courtyards and squares and will provide homes, office and retail space, as well as green spaces and improved pedestrian and cycle access from the train station through to the nearby Central Park.’

The company will also supply and install fire alarms, CCTV, video door-entry systems and intruder alarms.
