CentraLine by Honeywell has again supported the 2014 Building Controls Industry Association (BCIA) Awards.

The award ceremony took place on 8 May at the Chesford Grange Hotel near Kenilworth, hosted by ITV Presenter Helen Fospero, who regularly hosts Lorraine and Daybreak and is also an anchor on BBC Radio Five Live.

The opening by Steve Harrison, the president of the BCIA, highlighted the number of high-quality finalists and importance of an industry association to recognise and award outstanding performance.

The after-dinner entertainment was provided by Bill Beaumont, former captain of the British Lions and a ‘Question of sport’ team captain for 10 years,

The Building Controls Industry Association and CentraLine by Honeywell, both formed in 2004, share a 10th anniversary this year.

The last 10 years have seen the BCIA and CentraLine develop together and have a significant influence on the UK building-control landscape. They have similar objectives to raise the profile of advanced energy management with specifiers, end users and systems installers.

CentraLine has been an active supporter and participator in the Building Controls Industry Association, having contributed committee representation on the management, marketing and technical working groups.

We fully endorse the BCIA and would encourage all its CentraLine Partners to join the association, which is reflected in our continued sponsorship of the Independent Building Controls & BEM Installer of the Year Award.

This prestigious award underlines the value-added importance of the independent systems installer to the building-controls supply chain by recognising companies that demonstrate the highest level of innovation, engineering capability and business management.

There are eight BCIA award categories; systems installer: training: service: energy management: engineer and student of the year: product and project innovation.

CentraLine by Honeywell’s sponsored the category for Independent Building Controls & BEMS Installer, which was well represented with eight finalists.

• Bespoke Automation.

• Impact Control Systems.

• InTandem Systems

• KNX Consultants.

Powell Systems Ltd., Independent Building Controls and BEMS Installer of the Year

Powell Systems has for the past 22 years built its business reputation by working closely with customers. Essential to meeting their clients’ needs is the ability to fully understand not only the technical specifications but also deliver a building control installation that helps contribute to the success of their business enterprise.

Powell Systems delivers innovation by selection and integration of the best economically ‘fit for purpose’ BMS solutions that can support and develop with the clients’ building operational requirements. This demands a high level of product and protocol integration, requiring an extensive engineering capability.

Evohome, Technical Innovation of the Year — Products

Evohome is a wireless multi-zoning system allowing independent control of up to eight heating zones and one domestic hot water service.

The CentraLine Hawk can provide integration with the BMS and end-user control accessed remotely through a smart tablet or mobile phone.

We are delighted to announce that Powell Systems Ltd won the award for Independent Building Controls & BEMS Installer of the Year.

Ian Powell commented, ‘Winning this award is extremely important to Powell Systems Ltd. We are delighted that our engineering capability and client attentiveness has been recognised by the Building Controls Industry Association.’

The award was presented by CentraLine sales manager Jim Sword, who commented, ‘Congratulations to Powell Systems who are a CentraLine by Honeywell Partner.

‘Honeywell has sponsored this category since the awards were started because we believe it exemplifies all that is important in the building automation industry — technology, application, delivery and, most importantly, meeting the customers’ requirements for economy, comfort and security.’

Jim Sword added, ‘The BCIA Awards Ceremony this year was very special for CentraLine by Honeywell as our 10th anniversary coincides with that of the BCIA. We see our success in the market place in no small way attributable to the commitment we have to the Building Controls Industry Association.

It is especially gratifying to see how the BCIA awards attract a widening circle of companies committed to control and energy conservation. New people, innovations and companies are entering our industry all the time. It is crucial that products, people’s performance and projects are recognised to illustrate and publicise the importance of excellence in the building controls industry.

‘I would like to thank the participants who entered this year’s awards and congratulate all of the finalists and winners. CentraLine encourages all its partners and their clients to participate in next year’s awards. The recognition of engineering competence with an industry award not only enhances the reputation of a systems installer, but is great for staff confidence and motivation.’
