Carrier makes a return to Farnborough Air Show
Carrier Rental Systems supplied and installed over 14 MW of temporary cooling for the recent Farnborough Air Show. This has been one of the largest outdoor temporary cooling solutions in Europe for a number of years. As the event’s preferred supplier, Carrier fulfilled over 75% of the air-conditioning contracts at the event. The company also provided the temporary power and power management for the installation and for several high-profile locations such as the air-display headquarters and flight line hospitality.
The five vast exhibition halls were served by Aquaforce high-efficiency chillers. They have micro-channel heat exchangers with multiple circuits that operate independently — a feature that projects against possible component failure.
Carrier also supplied all the air-handling equipment for the expansive tents, meeting rooms, restaurants and the vast majority of the corporate entertainment areas. The large inverter-controlled AHUs supplied up to 60 000 m3/h.
Small units in the media centre could be manually controlled by occupiers of the spaces. These units received chilled water via a ring-main design, with chilled water running under the structure and teeing off to provide individual flow and return to each of the 76 fan-coil units.
For the corporate chalets, Carrier supplied over 300 Toshiba Carrier DX split units, mainly ceiling cassettes.
Teams from Carrier Rental Systems were on site two months before the show and provided 24-hour cover during the show itself.
