LJJ wins high-tech refurbishment job

LJJ building services contractor, Maple House

The £3.5 million M&E installation contract for Helical Bar’s £12 million refurbishment of Maple House in London’s Tech City’ has been awarded to LJJ Contractors. Located on City Road near the roundabout with Old Street, Maple House is 6500 m2 1960s office building. A new level is to be constructed on the roof.

LJJ will carry out a complete Cat A M&E fit-out for this speculative development. The project is scheduled to last 36 weeks. New plant will include two chillers on the roof to provide cooling for all office levels and down-flow units for each floor for a pressurised ventilation system.

There will also be four heat-recovery air-handling unties and a new boiler room in the basement. The mechanical contract includes perimeter trench heating.

Architect is Buckley Gray Yeoman, and Willmott Dixon is the main contractor.
