Ideal Evomax boilers save cost of building a new plant room
The compact size and uniform width and height of Evomax wall-hung boilers from Ideal Commercial Boilers enabled an existing plant room to be used in the refurbishment of the heating system of the head office of New Forest District Council in Lyndhurst, saving over £30 000 in capital costs by not needing to build a new plant room.
Appletree Court was built nearly a hundred years ago. The East Wing, for which the heating system was being refurbished, dates from 1967.
The East Wing was previously heated by a distributed heat-pump system.
The Evomax boilers were specified by council engineer Rob Sowden, who has been responsible for a programme of refurbishments across numerous council sites and replaced old and inefficient appliances with Evomax boilers where suitable.
At Appletree Court, two 80 kW Evomax boilers have been installed. The work in the plant room took just eight days and was carried out in the summer when the demand for heat was minimal. Ideal’s technical-support team provided recommendations for flueing and pipework in the confined space.
The old heaters in the various rooms of the East Wing were replaced with radiators — one room at a time to minimise disruption — before the boilers were commissioned and switched on.
