Olympic rowers visit Ecodan Tallisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge boat
The Ecodan boat sponsored by Mitsubishi Electric that will be rowed across the Atlantic Ocean later this year recently received Britain’s most successful Olympic rowers as guests. Sir Steve Redgrave (in the front of the boat (i.e. left) and Sir Matthew Pinsent (in front of him) lent their support to the All Beans No Monkeys team for their participation in the Tallisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge. They were at the BMW PGA Golf Championship at Wentworth Club.
The challenge will see the 4-man crew row 4800 km from La Gomera in the Canary Islands to Antigua in the Caribbean.
James Timbs-Harrison, Mitsubishi Electric heating product manager (right in photo), and his fellow crew members (Liam Browning, Stuart Markland and James Kendall) will depart on 15 December and row continuously in 2-hour shifts for up to 90 days.
James Timbs-Harrison says, ‘This is without doubt a challenge of a lifetime, but it is one which we are all looking forward to. A big part of this challenge is also raising money and awareness for our chosen charities. Our goal is to raise £60 000, which will be split between the RNLI and Cystic Fibrosis Trust.’
