Camp site converts from oil to LPG and Rinnai water heaters

Rinnai, domestic hot water, DHW

Rinnai continuous-flow water heaters now provide hot water for a new family shower block at Nicholaston Farm Campsite on the Gower Peninsula near Swansea. There are 12 separate cubicles for families. The showers are served by LPG, and the system provides the option to add more showers at a later date.

Tom Beyon director of Nicholaston Farm put the project out to tender. After discussions with Rinnai area representative Martin Embley and Ken Williams of Calor, he dropped his initial ideal of an oil-fired system in favour of a gas-fired system using five Rinnai Infinity HDC 1600 units in cascade on secondary return. It is the fist installation using these new units.

The newly developed downward-firing burner increases efficiency and reduces NOx emissions.

Calor has installed two LPG tanks. There is also room for a third for when two existing shower blocks that use oil are converted to LPG.

Ken Williams of Calor said, ‘Tom will be impressed with the savings he will achieve with Calor LPG at a realistic price, combined with a technically advanced Rinnai boiler.’
