Stokvis helps bring communal heating to Windsor Great Park

Stokvis, district heating

Stokvis heat interface units provide the final link in a communal heating system in Windsor Great Park that is served by a biomass boiler. Over 70 H-Series HIUs have been installed in cottages and other buildings to replace back boilers in the cottages and associated buildings.

The project was carried out under the supervision of Andrew Dunning, chief surveyor on the Windsor Estate. Lorien Engineering Solutions was the consultant responsible for the main design work, and Sykes & Son was the M&E contractor responsible for all the installation work.

The biomass boiler installation supplies water at 80°C to feed the primary side of the HIUs. The secondary side delivers heating and hot water via a 3-way diverter valve.

The HIUs have wireless heat meters that can be interrogated to enable billing information to be generated. The HIUs have a small window in their casing so that residents can see the heat meter.
