Inviron takes on taxing project schedule for Inland Revenue project

Inviron’s Washington branch in Tyne & Wear has started work on a £9 million contract for the Inland Revenue and Department of Work & Pensions at Benton Park View, Long Benton. The contract requires completion within 12 months of the start date and was awarded by main contractor Interserve Building Projects for the supply of M&E services for four new 3-storey office block and a restaurant. Inviron is installing full ventilation and air-conditioning systems incorporating underfloor displacement; heating, chilled-water, plumbing and sanitary installations; electrical services for mains power and lighting supplies; fire alarms; building-management system,including climate- and temperature-control facilities; as well as CCTV, door access and data containment. Two innovative technical solutions are a fully automated lighting-control system and prefabricated packaged boiler houses. Domestic water and drainage services installations also form an integral part of the project. The project is due for completion in February 2005. Inviron secured the project on the basis of competitive price and a proven track record with Interserve. It follows directly on from the successful completion of a similar development at Tyne View Park, another Department of Work & Pensions site only a mile from Benton Park. Washington’s operations manager Alan Crozier says, ‘The experience gained at Tyne View Park allowed us to identify the most cost-effective solutions for the installations, and this proved to be a decisive advantage in value engineering the final proposals.
