Toshiba Air Conditioning has launched an updated version of its VRFair conditioning design platform, DesignAirs, for use by contractors, designers and consultants. Toshiba Air Conditioning UK is a part ofUTC Climate, Controls & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp.

DesignAirs enables users to create detailed project drawings, including pipework and equipment specifications, for a variety ofbuilding types. It now includes a new seasonal performance calculatorto simulate the actual performance and running costs of a systemusing local seasonal temperatures and operating conditions.

Users can also specify different electricity tariffs, in order toestimate running costs under different supply scenarios and produce areport on anticipated running costs and annual CO2 emissions.

The design platform has three-dimensional capabilities that canbe used to highlight any potential issues with a design in relation tooil traps and height difference separation. The new DesignAirs systemcan generate a single page view showing all elements of a system, either as a PDF or an AutoCAD file.

Alongside the introduction of the enhanced DesignAirs, thecompany has issued updated Building Information Modelling (BIM)software for use with Autodesk Revit, an industry standard BIMplatform.
