Energy-metering capability is added to the Hiross underfloor air-conditioning system

A web-server interface for the Hirovisor control and energy-metering system for the Hiross Flexible Space System of underfloor air conditioning enables tenants in a multi-occupancy building to be accurately billed and gives individual occupants control of their local environment.
AET has added energy-metering capability to the Liebert Hiross control system available as part of Hiross underfloor air conditioning provided in the Flexible Space concept. The system can thus provide an accurate, easily reconfigurable and cost-effective alternative to using building-management systems for this purpose in multi-tenanted commercial buildings. This approach to air conditioning uses the whole space under a raised access floor as a plenum for air distribution. The conditioned area is divided into zones of 100 to 300 m2. Each underfloor zone is isolated from the others to create airtight boxes. The floor void of each zone is divided into sections for supply and return air. The Liebert Hiross Hirovisor is an intelligent service interface and web server for use with the Hiross Flexible Space System. It connects to an Ethernet network and enables energy consumption and usage patterns to be monitored by zone or occupier. Tenants can thus be billed accurately, irrespective of changes in occupancy. Conditioned air is delivered to the space by fan-assisted terminal units in the floor, and Hirovisor enables them to be controlled by users from their own desks, without having to request minor changes via the facilities of system manager. Hirovisor software automatically generates a site-specific picture of the Flexible Space System it is controlling. Simultaneous access can be achieved from multiple PCs. Different levels of service and security can be set up.
