Lochinvar flies high at Robin Hood Airport
Space-heating and hot-water requirements for the new Robin Hood Airport near Doncaster and Sheffield are supplied by Lochinvar equipment in a prefabricated roof-top plant room.
The ability of Lochinvar’s Power-fin boilers to deliver high outputs from a small space was one of the factors leading to their installation at the New Robin Hood Airport near Doncaster and Sheffield. It is forecast to serve a million passengers in its first full year of operation. Four Power-fin PFB2000CE boilers and two CE500 Automatic Charger water heaters were installed by Rotary North West into a prefabricated roof-top plant room. David Pepper, managing director of Lochinvar, explains, ‘The compact design of plant-room equipment was a major consideration, and the small footprint of the Power-fin enabled a total heat output of around 2 MW to be installed in a relatively small space.’ Charger water heaters combine low storage with fast recovery. Each CE500 Automatic model can deliver 1920 l/h with a 44 K temperature rise. They are particularly suitable for applications where high demand for hot water can occur in short periods.
