Coolmation introduces high-performance Rhoss chillers

Coolmation now offers the Rhoss Z Power range of air-cooled chillers. They have cooling capacities from 750 to 1285 kW. These chillers are the result of a partnership between Rhoss and the University of Udine in Italy. They use semi-hermetic screw compressors specifically developed for R134a. The single-pass counter-flow shell-and-tube evaporators are designed and constructed so that water and refrigerant passes are always counterflow and pressure drops across the tube bundle are minimised. These features increase the efficiency of evaporation and, hence, reduce energy consumption. Thee micro-processor-controlled economiser circuit comprises a sub-cooler and expansion device to increase cooling capacity and EER by directly integrating with the control system. The air-cooled condensing section, coil and fans has been optimised by redesigning the tube geometry and fin formation to achieve more efficient heat transfer and lower power input to fan motors. The compressors can be controlled in eight capacity steps from 22 to 100%. Performance is verified in the new Rhoss laboratory, said to be one of only two in Europe capable of testing chillers at their full capacity up to 1500 kW. It has been certified by Eurovent.
