Over 30 air-handling units with airflows up to 16.5 m3/s are being supplied by McQuay for this development in London.
Over 30 air-handling units are being supplied by McQuay for the New Street Square office and retail development in the City of London. The contract is worth £850 000 and involves the design, manufacture and supply of Easdale Type 50 AHUs to AMEC Building & Facilities Services to supply conditioned air to all four office buildings. Many of these AHUs incorporate thermal wheels. The development by Land Securities comprises four contemporary buildings, each with its own character and linked by landscaped walkways. Much of the site at ground level will be given over to retail units, seating areas, plants and landscaping. It replaces a cluster of post-war office blocks that were due for demolition. Some of the standard units will be installed in basements. Roof-top units will have enclosed corridors for the installation of pipework and valves. These corridors will be lit and enable maintenance to be carried out in all weathers. They have a special finish, specified by the architect, to blend in with the City skyline. Airflows range from 1 to 16.5 m3/s. Four units of different specifications will be subject to factory witness tests for airflow, leakage and noise levels. Delivery is expected to be completed by August 2007.
