Mikrofill supports CIBSE student bursaries

To support the future of the industry, Mikrofill and CIBSE have teamed up to provide four bursaries for students on courses in building-services engineering. Roger Cherrington, managing director of Mikrofill, explains, ‘One of the biggest problems we face as a company is recruiting qualified heating engineers. We work in a very specialised field, which requires a unique application of engineering. This area of engineering is growing in demand, and we need to make sure that this demand can be met. Mikrofill is support students at London South Bank University and also at colleges in the East and West Midlands. With the high costs of higher education, Roger Cherrington believes that initiatives such as these student bursaries are very important. ‘By offering students the chance to continue their studies at less financial risk, Mikrofill and CIBSE are hoping to encourage engineers to specialise in building-services engineering to a higher level. ‘We are urging other companies to take our lead. We need to think collectively about the benefits to our industry, not only in increasing the number of qualified engineers but in ensuring that we have the means to raise standards and innovate. This is something we can all benefit from.’ Mikrofill sees bursaries as just the start of a campaign to increase the number and quality of building-services engineers in the future. Roger Cherrington is quite happy to explain to other people in the industry how easy it is to support a student bursary (tel. 08452 606020, e-mail info@mikrofill.com).
