Sanyo opens air-conditioning factory in Hungary

Sanyo has established a strong European base for manufacturing air-conditioning products with the opening of a state-of-the-art factory in Budapest, Hungary. The factory will make indoor units from Sanyo’s ECOi VRF and PACi ranges — including wall, cassette, ceiling and ducted units. It is next to a Sanyo factory that produces HIT solar cells used in its solar-power air-conditioning systems. Akira Kan, executive office of Sanyo Electric and head of the commercial group, said, ‘Since it is Sanyo’s 60th anniversary, we are very proud and excited to open this new manufacturing facility in Budapest. We have grown rapidly over the past few years, and we will now consolidate this expansion with sound investment choices. The Budapest factory provides this capability and allows us to strengthen our supply chain and overall presence in the region.’ The ECOi 2-way 2-pipe VRF system use DC inverter technology and the latest developments in heat exchanger to reduce running costs and carbon-dioxide emissions. PACi split systems have a starting current of 1 A and come as single, twin, triple and quad options. They are precharged for 30 m. The factory will also be used for the expansion of indoor units with Sanyo’s virus washer, currently available in Japan.
