Luxo lighting fittings add to the gaming experience

Compliance with the requirements of CIBSE Lighting Guide LG7 and the ability to dim luminaires were among the capabilities of Luxo’s wide range of products that led to them being specified for the offices of Real Time Worlds in Dundee, which develops software for multi-player on-line gaming. The company recently moved into new shell-and-core premises in Dundee, which have been fitted out to its specification. Lighting for the mixture of open-plan and cellular accommodation was specified and installed by contractor DH Morris. The lighting is controlled by a combination of manual on/off switching, automatic switching and dimming controls. Kevin Birnie of BBH Consultants designed the project with expert help provided by Luxo’s technical manager Steve Willis. The requirements of additional visual interest and efficient lighting in the board room were met by the Onda system, a suspended modular system with a very striking appearance and which provides indirect, diffuse lighting. Each module consists of an electrical support which houses the reflector, light sources and control gear. The Onda fittings are supplemented with Silvy wall-mounted luminaires to create a versatile lighting scheme for the board room that can be adjusted to suit a variety of activities. The timing of the contract required all lighting products to be delivered within a 3-week timescale.
