Carrier collaborates with Lyon University on industry training needs

Carrier has set up a fully equipped training facility at Lyon University to train Carrier employees and to provide training courses for 75 students at the university each year.
As part of a training initiative with Lyon University in France, Carrier has launched a training facility to provide courses for 75 university students a year and to fulfil its training needs for Europe, Middle East and Africa. Lyon University donated the training facility, which is near to Carrier’s French factory, while Carrier supplied the equipment. David Appel, president of Carrier building systems and services for these regions, explains, ‘ “Carrier University” hosts a full schedule of training programmes. Courses range from two to five days and 3-week programmes. The curriculum in 2007 focuses on chillers, air-handling units and terminals. Carrier engineers have already participated in training sessions, and centre manager Freddy Dumon says, ‘The early feedback has been positive. The opportunity for sales and service engineers to see, touch and hear the products means they can speak to their customers with even greater conviction and respond better to their immediate questions and needs.’
