The Heating & Ventilating Contractors’ Association and air-conditioning specialist Daikin UK have signed a partnership to highlight their shared commitment to raising installation standards and promoting best practice across the UK contracting sector. The agreement is called ‘Striving for excellence’. Significant to the agreement is the accreditation by HVCA of the generic training in air-conditioning systems that Daikin provides to installers. Mike Langford, sales director of Daikin UK, explains that the company’s well established D1 Partner approved-installer network is the key to its commitment to achieving every-increasing quality targets. He says, ‘Daikin’s D1 Partners are skilled industry professionals that can provide state-of-the-art solutions to their customers and clients, based on experience, technical knowhow and product knowledge. They are innovative and dynamic business, fully committed to the highest standards of customer service.’ Robert Higgs, chief executive of HVCA pointed out that the existence of the third-part inspection and assessment with which all HVCA members must comply, and which is carried out by an independent certification body, was proof of an absolute commitment on the part of HVCA’s members to quality and professionalism. He says, ‘The fact that standards of technical competence and commercial capability, similar to those enshrined in the HVCA’s inspection and assessment process, also appear among the qualification criteria for D1 Partnership status is allowing us to establish a positive relationship to the ultimate benefit of Daikin’s customers, our members and the building-services engineering sector as a whole.’
