Reducing the cost of forecourt lighting

chalmor
Considerable savings in running and maintenance costs for lighting forecourts are claimed for a new Endurance long-life light fitting from Chalmor.
Chalmor has introduced two new versions of the long-life Endurance light fitting specially designed for the canopies of garage and petrol-station forecourts. Benefits include reduced energy and maintenance costs, minimal disruption from changing light sources and easier, faster installation. Research by the Petrol Retailers Association shows that a typical petrol forecourt using 10 standard 400 W canopy lights can save nearly £2000 a year on energy costs alone using these luminaires linked to simple controls. These fittings have an operational life of 60 000 h, which in practice is 10 years — the average life of a canopy. These Endurance fittings are available in two sizes: 420 mm square using 100 W lamps and 600 mm square using 150 W lamps. They are IP 55 rated, so they can be safely jet washed from the ground.
