The world’s biggest air-conditioning project? LG has supplied 1314 Multi V Space VRF systems for Star City in Seoul. The outdoor units can be installed indoors close to louvres (shown above) on the outside of the four buildings that comprise the development.
Equipment for what could be the largest VRF air-conditioning project in the world has been supplied by LG for Star City in Seoul, South Korea. This mixed-use commercial and residential development comprises four separate buildings, the tallest being 58 storeys high. The total value of the project to LG was over £6 million and involved 1314 VRF systems comprising 7654 indoor units. One of the other buildings has 35 storeys above ground and three storeys below ground. The other two buildings have 45 and 50 storeys, each with a further three storeys below ground. In all, there are 1310 dwellings. LG used its Multi V Space system for this project. Condensing units can be sited inside the building against an outside wall, ideal for this type of high-rise application. These outdoor units can be installed in a cupboard or plant rooms, with the fans facing outwards on a louvred wall or exterior grille. The sirocco fans reject heat away from the unit to the left and right, preventing short circuiting between air on and air off. One Multi V Space unit can control up to 16 indoor units, with control via the Internet, a PC, a deluxe or simple central controller, and local remote controllers.
