Fan-coil units for Land Securities meet a demanding specification

Stringent demands for the installation of fan-coil units in this Land Securities development have been satisfied by Trox UK.
Trox UK has supplied fan-coil units for a Land Securities development in London. The contract is worth around £2 million and is for airside FCUs for New Street Square mixed-use estate on a prominent site in New Fetter Lane. The scheme comprises four major new buildings around a new public square. There is one high-rise tower, two medium-rise atrium buildings and a low-rise block. Trox undertook extensive development work to meet a precise specification for energy efficiency and consumption demanded by Land Securities, including a series of comprehensive tests. • Overall room air distribution and general thermal performance. • Thermal test to accurately measure thermal carryover within an FCU in maximum heating and cooling modes and achieve less than 100 W. Independent tests in the reverberation chamber at Sound Research Laboratories at Sudbury. The units were made off site, with Trox fitting the BMS controls, wiring, Crane commissioning-valve assemblies and special brackets to reduce commissioning time on site. Trox worked closely with the design team from an early stage in the project and offered a series of guarantees. The site offers 65 500 m2 of office accommodation and can provide flexibility for both large and small business. Consultant was Cundall, and Amec was the M&E contractor.
