Alarm system is successful feature of Priva BMS
A Priva building-management system has been installed to serve two new buildings at Chevron in Aberdeen.
At the heart of the building-management system in the new headquarters of Chevron in Aberdeen is the ability to contact security staff anywhere on site to immediately advise them of any critical alarms. It uses SMS (short messaging service) to contact security staff via their mobile telephones while they patrol the site. That message provides sufficient information for them to take immediate remedial action or contact the site’s provider of service and maintenance. The BMS was supplied by Priva and installed by Campbell Control Services. It comprises six Compri HX4, two Compri HX3 and two Compri HX8E controllers and has been installed in two new office buildings. During office hours, all change-of-state and critical alarms are reported to a nominated PC in the facilities-management department. It is only when the premises are vacated that these alarms will be sent to the mobile telephones of security staff. The success of this remote messaging has led Chevron to consider extending the remote connection for use by suppliers. For example, while the BMS was being installed, Campbell Control Services used the modem connection to remotely check the BMS installation, initialise diagnostics and make program adjustments as required. This enabled the company to quickly respond to any adjustments from its office in Glasgow — saving time and engineering costs, since engineers do not need to travel to site to complete the work. The new buildings provide fully air-conditioned offices and two IT suites. Fan-coil units provide heating and cooling for the office areas, with 240 Comforte CX controllers managing them. These controllers are connected in turn to a mix of Comset CX room units and standard room sensors for local control. The IT suites have their own dedicated, self-controlled air-conditioning systems, which are monitored by the BMS using a Modbus connection. All other HVAC services are directly monitored and controlled by the BMS
