Inverter-controlled chiller can replace boiler plant

Space heating and cooling for buildings can be provided by heat-pump inverter-controlled chillers from Daikin.
A new inverter-controlled chiller from Daikin Europe can provide chilled water for air conditioning and also replace a conventional gas boiler in ambient temperatures down to -12°C. EWYD-AJYNN chillers incorporate an inverter-driven single screw compressor and are available in a variety of sizes with cooling capacities from 255 to 385 kW and heating from 274 to 412 kW. They use R134a, which has an evaporating pressure higher than atmospheric pressure — even at -12°C. Output is matched to demand in both heating and cooling modes by varying the speed of the compressor.
