MHI boosts the performance of its mini VRF product offering

A mini VRF system from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries is designed for office, retail or apartment developments with up to eight rooms. The KX6 Compact outdoor unit is massively reduced in size from the outgoing KX4. Each outdoor unit has a footprint of 970 x 370 mm and is 845 mm high. They have cooling capacities of 12, 14 and 16 kW and require only one single side fan. They are available as single- or 3-phase units. The range of indoor units includes cassettes, ceiling suspended, wall mounted and floor standing. They resemble the outgoing KX4 series, but come with MHI’s new Superlink II control logic to control the most complex multi-occupancy building with just 2-wire connections to the remote controllers. The maximum height difference between indoor units is 15 m, compared with 4 m previously. Pipe runs between indoor units are also longer. The maximum connectable capacity is up from 130 to 150%, so a 14 kW outdoor unit can serve up to 21 kW of indoor units. The COP of the 12 kW outdoor unit is 4.33 in heating mode and 4 in cooling mode. These high efficiencies are due to a re-engineered heat exchanger, new twin rotary compressor and a new DC fan motor that is 60% more efficient than the previous model.
