Heat pump can be combined with other energy sources

The ExoAir range of air-source heat pumps from Clyde Energy Solutions is available as four units with outputs from 6.7 to 16.5 kW. With an outside air temperature of 0°C and water temperature of 35°C, the COP is 3.7, rising to 4.4 with an outside air temperature of 10°C. These units can be combined with the company’s ExoTank to give the flexibility of using other energy sources such as solar panels or biomass boilers, with a controller to select the cheapest or most appropriate energy source at any time. ExoTank is available with capacities of 300 and 500 l and combines the functions of buffer tank and generation of domestic hot water and integrates the heat source with the heating system, matching supply with demand. ExoTank protects against legionella by heating water on demand rather than storing it. The ExoAir heat pumps comes as a complete unit and requires only external connections for water and electricity.
