McDonald’s Swiss outlet replaces R22 with R427A

Ahead of the ban on the use of R22 virgin fluid for the maintenance of air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment, McDonald’s has converted equipment at one of its outlets in Montagny-sur-Yverdon in Switzerland from R22 to Forane 427A from Arkema, a new generation of HFC. Based on the equipment having been operating satisfactorily with the new refrigerant for over three months, McDonald’s in Switzerland is planning further retrofits. The retrofit was carried out by maintenance contractor Atel TB Romandie SA. The converted installation includes an air-water heat pump for heating in winter and air conditioning in summer and which is also used for domestic hot water. Suniso 3GS mineral oil has been replaced with Arctic 22 polyoilester oil.
