Canary Wharf becomes Trox’s densest area for air-conditioning business
Within these buildings at London’s Canary Wharf is the highest concentration of Trox air-conditioning equipment anywhere in the world.
The continuing supply of Trox products and terminal air-conditioning systems for projects at London’s Canary Wharf has made the area the largest concentration of Trox products in the world. It houses some of the world’s leading legal and financial institutions. David Leatherbarrow, managing director of Trox UK, says, ‘This is the largest contraction of Trox terminal air-distribution systems on a single development anywhere in the world. Canary Wharf clients are among the world’s most demanding customers, as comfort levels governed by our equipment and systems are critical in these prestigious head-office locations.’ To achieve the required standards, it was essential to test each system for specific buildings against the design criteria. The test would generally be a full mock-up at the Trox technical centre and witnessed by the design team. On some occasions, VAV units were calibrated on a special rig and precommissioned in the factory, with the controls experts present. Trox also supplies a validation services and upgrades VAV boxes that have been installed for around 10 to 15 years, wherever possible. Where boxes need replacing, Trox has undertaken a complete refurbishment contract and replaced units irrespective of original manufacturer. One of the latest development is the design of new VAV fan coils for a new building, enabling the terminal air-conditioning system to far exceed the requirements of Part L of the Building Regulations.
