Served by hot water from central plant, Potterton Commercial’s Sirius ‘heat box’ is supplied with hot water from central plant and uses two plate heat exchangers to provide heating and hot water for individual dwellings in a residential block.
Potterton Commercial has responded to the trend towards centralised heating and hot-water solutions in multi-occupancy residential development with the launch of the Sirius SAT ‘heat box’. These units provide heating and hot water for individual dwellings in a block of flats served by a central plant room. The benefits of this centralised method of providing heating and hot water include reduced installation costs, fewer flues and visible plumage and reduced costs for annual servicing of individual boilers. It is also easier to integrate low- and zero-carbon solutions with central plant, such as the Andrews Solarflo solar thermal system. There are eight sizes of Sirius SAT heat boxes. Their integral heat meters can transmit data wirelessly, enabling the consumption of heating and hot water in each dwelling to be monitored from a single position, reducing reading costs and avoiding potential reading mistakes. The consumption of energy in each dwelling is shown on a digital display to help encourage efficient use. Options include programmable room thermostat, weather-compensation module and DHW/cold-water meter and pipework loop.
