Shower-Safe keeps shower head safe

The safety of stagnant water left in a shower after it has been used can be achieved using the Shower-Safe retrofit kit. A kit contains silver and copper mesh beads, half of which are put into the shower head and the rest into the hose.

Filter washers at the connections keep the beads in their respective positions. In fixed copper pipework, the copper beads are not required, but additional filter-washer support fittings with compression fittings will be required. The kit includes a waterproof label to be fitting to the shower to show that Shower-Safe is fitted.

Silver is a biocide, and copper removes biofilms. Together, these beads are claimed to kill bacteria such as legionella, pseudomonas etc.

IMSL, a microbiological research company, has tested Shower-Safe.

Other applications include pipework for hot tubs, emergency showers and eye-wash units, sluice pipework, temporary dead legs and flexible connections, particularly after mixer valves.
