Heatrae Sadia Heating invests in energy-efficiency testing
Heatrae Sadia Heating has invested in a state-of-the-art laboratory for assessing the energy efficiency of the products it designs so as to be ready for the forthcoming EuP Directive. In 2010 energy labels are likely to be introduced for all water heaters as part of the EuP Directive, which aims to reduce the environmental impact of products throughout their lifecycle.
The laboratory includes a climate-control unit to maintain 20°C ±2 K, testing equipment and a thermal-imaging camera. It is approved by the British Board of Agrément, the UK’s major approval body for new construction products.
Spencer Clark, sales and marketing director, said, ‘We believe that testing facilities of this kind are key to meeting the demands of the EuP Directive. It is likely that manufacturers will only be able to sell higher-efficiency water heaters, with the less-efficient products being phased out. Manufacturers must invest in improving the energy efficiency of their products. Testing products in this way also ensures that specifiers and consumer have comparable information.’
