Land Securities has been awarded the Carbon Trust Standard following a thorough assessment of selected premises in London. Inviron, which provides building services and facilities management, assisted at the locations chosen for the site-based section of the audit by demonstrating how the properties are managed and outlining initiatives and procedures for saving energy. These include reducing running times for plant such as chillers, pumps and AHUs, installing LED lighting and cold-cathode lamps and arranging workshops relating to energy use and the environment for site-based employees.

The standard also certifies that Land Securities is also committed to making further year-on-year reductions of carbon emissions — with Inviron supporting Land Securities by helping to identify methods to reduce water and air-conditioning usage and undertake further trials and tests of lighting and new energy-efficient products.

Neil Johnsonof Inviron commented, ‘We’re very proud to have helped Land Securities achieve the Carbon Trust Standard. Now we can look forward to 2009 and build on these energy-saving successes.’
