Swiftclean keeps the Heart of England beating

Swiftclean
Ductwork hygiene has been ensured in hospitals in the Midlands by a cleaning programme carried out by Swiftclean Environmental.

Swiftclean Environmental has been working with the Heart of England Trust on a major programme of ductwork cleaning procedures to meet the trust’s commitment to hygiene in ventilation and air-conditioning systems in line with the latest ‘Health technical memorandum 03-01: specialised ventilation for healthcare premises’.

The trust’s hospitals include Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, Solihull, Good Hope Hospital and Birmingham Chest Clinic.

Working in a healthcare environment can be a challenge, with ward decanting and theatre closures often announced at short notice. Maintenance work therefore has to be planned and executed in a quite limited time frame or vital remedial works may not be possible again for may months. Reactive planning was the key, and Swiftclean has been working closely with respective estates personnel to ensure labour is available when required.

Mike Keye, estates office for Solihull, said, ‘We are pleased to report that Swiftclean Environmental has carried out this work to the complete satisfaction of those involved. They were thoroughly prepared for everything, ensuring the highest levels of cleanliness and the minimum amount of disruption to patients and staff. We will certainly work together again with Swiftclean to ensure that our ventilation systems remain in a clean and hygienic condition.’
