T&A centralised commissioning is used for chilled beams in Australia

T&A
Chilled beams in this office building in Brisbane, Australia, have been commissioned with the help of Tour & Andersson’s TA-HUB centralised commissioning boxes.

Tour & Andersson’s TA-HUB centralised commissioning system has reduced the time needed for installing and commissioning valves in a new 11-storey building in Brisbane, Australia.

HUB stands for Hydronic User-friendly Balancing and is a bespoke system housed in a pre-insulated galvanised steel and aluminium casing. There is room for balancing valves for up to eight terminal units, drain port, air vent, common measuring point and flushing bypass.

To meet the requirements of the Brisbane office building, the system was installed with STAP differential-pressure controls to monitor and control the interaction between valves on all floors so as to maintain a constant pressure and flow of water around the HVAC system.

The controls also allow the chilled-beam circuits to work independently of one another, without having to rebalance any part of it and without being affected by fluctuations in use on other floors of the building.

The TA-HUB units were specified with TBV-CM combined control and balancing valves so that the flow of water to the chilled beams could be set and controlled by its periodic modulation, depending on temperature, ensuring the design flow is maintained.

Roger Briggs of Webb Australia Consultant Engineers specified the system to reduce hardware costs and installation time and provide long-term maintenance savings.

Webb Australia supplied Tour & Andersson with drawings detailing the proposed positions of the chilled beams. With help from T&A’s engineering support centre, a bespoke system was designed and installed.
