Action on climate change is stimulated by £2 million fund
A £2 million fund has been set up to accelerate the transition to low carbon in the north west of England. It will provide grants of £100 000 to £500 000 to new projects that can demonstrate significant savings.
The Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) is inviting expressions of interest in the Carbon Challenge Fund, which is a key part of the Northwest Climate Change Action Plan, which sets out the region’s mission to become the leading region on climate change by 2020.
The deadline for submissions of interest is 3 August 2009. They will be submitted to Envirolink Northwest, which is managing the applications process.
Ross Dixon from Envirolink Northwest, says, ‘We’re asking applicants to submit projects that demonstrate innovation either through the technologies themselves or their overall approach. We’re looking for projects which will bring profile and recognition to the region, with ideas and approaches that can be replicated here in the north west, across the UK and internationally.’
