Timoleon adapts its underfloor heating for church-hall project
Timoleon’s ability to tailor underfloor heating to meet specific requirements in the most cost-efficient manner has been exploited for a recent project in Belfast. The renovated hall of Corpus Christi Church has a specially designed system based on Timoleon’s Aether FoilBoard and installed beneath a hardwood floor. The 250 m2 hall provides a community centre and base for youth work.
The heating is beneath a 22 mm Glenwood Maple Ryan sports floor. Aether FoilBoard comprises 50 mm of high-efficiency insulation with a layer of aluminium bonder to the upper surface, into which channels are preformed to accept 15 mm polybutylene heating pipe.
For this project, Timoleon designers adapted the standard system to fit between battens at 360 mm centres, with cross battens at 400 mm centres. Special 120 mm-long loop-return sections were also supplied to ensure that each section spanned two battens.
