It’s CIBSE’s carbon clean-up time again
CIBSE’s 2009 ‘100 hours of carbon clean up’ campaign is now under way. The campaign was launched on 3 September and is open to companies from all sectors that want to reduce carbon emissions from their buildings and motivate employees to get involved. In return, participants will be able to access an extensive list of carbon-saving activities and expert advices.
This is the fourth year of CIBSE’s carbon-clean-up campaign. Last year saw about 600 organisations sign up to cut carbon — including hospitals, museums, consultancies, local authorities and universities. Tate London and the Science Museum have already signed up for this year.
Mike Simpson, president of CIBSE, says, ‘We are now in the fourth year of carbon-clean-up campaigns, and enthusiasm is stronger than ever. Building managers and users play a key role in reducing the amount of carbon emitted by commercial buildings and joining the campaign can help give staff extra tips, advice and actions to make their workplaces even more energy efficient.’
