KNX takes control at Gateshead Stadium

KNX

Jung KNX intelligent controls are being used to control lighting on new practice pitches at Gateshead International Stadium. The pitches are some 300 m from the main arena, and the lighting is controlled via a single 2-core KNX communications cable from the reception to the 14 lighting pillars around the pitches. The system was installed by systems integrator Durable Technologies.

The alternative to the KNX cable would have been several kilometres of 230 V controls cables. The KNX system enables each lighting pillar to be individually controlled.

A Jung touch screen in reception acts as the main control station. Timers ensure that lights are turned off at the end of an evening.

Timers and daylight sensors prevent unnecessary use. Each group of lights is programmed to come on in sequence to avoid power inrushes.
