MHIE air conditioning restores normal temperatures in London medical centre

MHIE
When conditions in this new medical centre in London became too hot, air conditioning was added using systems from MHIE.

When the purpose-built 4-storey premises of the Chatfield Health Care inner-London medical practice became a bit ‘feverish’ in summer Aircon Worldwide was called in to install high-efficiency air-conditioning systems from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Europe. This retrofit installation posed outdoor siting problems, which were overcome using compact equipment from the KX and split ranges sourced through distributor FM Air Conditioning.

The design of the building ruled out a single large system to serve more than 20 rooms requiring air conditioning. Their being no-where to put more than one VRF outdoor unit, the solution was to install five independent systems with a total cooling capacity of 67 kW.

The outdoor equipment comprises a 28 kW KX4 heat pump, two 14 kW KX6 heat pumps, a 5.6 kW twin split and a 5 kW single split. Indoors, there are two cassettes and 22 wall-mounted unit. Each system is controlled from a hard-wired panel.

The KX6 compact range provides cost-effective VRF air conditioning for smaller installations from two to eight rooms. Systems can achieve a COP of 4.33 in heating mode and 4 in cooling mode.
