Waterloo supplies diffuser requirements for key Manchester development

Waterloo Air Products
Hundreds of swirl and barrel slot diffusers have been supplied by Waterloo for the City Park office complex in Manchester.

Waterloo has supplied air-terminal devices for two of Manchester’s latest building projects. They are the City Park office complex and the adjacent Park Inn Hotel. The hotel installation comprises 293 grilles — including square louvre-faced diffusers, fixed-blade grilles, airline linear grilles and continuous barrel slot diffusers. There are 1200 swirl and barrel slot diffuser in the City Park office building. They were specified by Derry Building Services.

A major benefit of Waterloo’s barrel slot diffuser is their ability to provide adjustable air distribution over much shorter runs than previously achievable. They have a lightweight extruded aluminium body and rims and integrate seamlessly into any installation. They have proved very popular since the launch in 2008.

City Park is the commercial element of the ‘Green quarter’ an 8 acre mixed-used residential and commercial scheme.

The 9-story Park Inn Hotel has two floors below ground and six above. There are 252 guest rooms, conference and meeting facilities, gym, restaurants and bar. It is fully air-conditioned using a fan-coil system. Waterloo’s diffusers and grilles are used extensively in the reception area, back-of-house offices and the bedrooms.

The City Park office complex comprises a curved 17-storey 9300 m2 building. Air conditioning is provided by a 4-pipe fan-coil system. As well as ensuring effective movement of supply and circulated air throughout the buildings, Waterloo addressed aesthetic requirements as most of the grilles and diffusers are visible.
