Ridi does its duty for World Duty Free

Ridi Lighting
A shadow-free environment in the new European headquarters of World Duty Free is created by bespoke Ridi luminaires.

A lighting scheme blending performance and practicality has been created at the new European headquarters of World Duty Free (WDF) using Ridi luminaires in a design that creates a productive and shadow-free environment for staff of this leading travel retailer. The scheme was created by McCarthy Bainbridge using MIELA-EBIMML luminaires.

The new headquarters in at Bedfont Lakes near Heathrow and is the centre of WDF’s European operations. The 2500 m2 4-storey includes boardrooms, meeting rooms and a large open-plan work area.

The building enjoys a lot of light through glazed facades, but still needs artificial light to eliminate dark oppressive shadows in the centre. Through good vertical and ceiling illumination, the Ridi luminaires combine with natural light to establish a consistent lighting level that is pleasing to the eye and comfortable to work by.

MEILA-EBIMML is a recessed direct/indirect luminaire with a perforated drop gondola and while aluminium gullwing reflector to give a glare-free environment to LG7. For this project, a fast-fix version was made to fit into a metal plank ceiling. The luminaires also have discreet air-handling slots and two 28 W T5 lamps.
